A cattle ranch worker in Mitchell recently succumbed to his injuries after a serious on-the-job accident. The victim, R.D., was sorting cattle in the morning when he was apparently knocked to the ground by a steer and trampled. The 65-year-old man suffered severe head injuries and was rushed by ambulance to Scottbluff’s Regional West Medical Center in critical condition, and remained in the intensive care unit for several days. Unfortunately, his injuries were too severe and he passed away three days after the incident.
Family and friends gathered at a funeral chapel in Scottsbluff to mourn his passing. There was no information regarding whether or not his family plans on pursuing a wrongful death claim against the ranch owner for the tragic accident.
